Hi Al,

I thought my #4 cylinder wasn't firing and the only way I determined 
otherwise was to raise the revs and disconnect the other three spark leads one 
by one 
until it was running on the one suspicious cylinder.

Compression tests and comparison of the color of your spark plugs would be 
next if you determine that they are all firing.

Another area that deserves checking is the distributor. It can cause revving 
problems and rough running. Centrifugal weights can be sticky and rusty, 
springs lose tension and the vaccuum advance sometimes freezes up. Worn 
bearings 
cause points scatter. That was the problem (among others) on our car.
