Yes, they did come with a swing spring swing axle suspension.

The early GT6 came with a swing axle fixed spring, with the usual swing
axle bad habits.
The GT6 then was equipped with a rotoflex suspension. This was a more
conventional fully independent design, without the severe camber changes
and jacking. It was expensive though.
Very late GT6's were switched back to a swing axle, but with a swing
spring. Identical setup as the later Spitfires. It was a cost saving
effort apparently. It brought back the nasty camber changes of a swing
axle, but with a reduced tendancy to jack or tuck because of the
swinging leaf spring.

The rotoflex design is the best handling, but it is somewhat expensive,
and the rubber donuts rather fragile and a pain to replace.

The swing spring swing axle is capable of quite good handling, at the
expense of ride comfort. It is cheaper to maintain.
