Richard, interestingly 20% of Triumph owners are "satisfied with their dealer
experience"........

Hmmmm?

I just took a test to see how compatible I am with driving a Triumph
Spitfire. I filled in a questionnaire about my personality traits, and my
results are compared with other Spitfire owners (and those of other cars).
Apparently Daffy is completely the wrong car for me. They tell me that:

1. I'm too much of a risk-taker. This I don't get at all - surely that
makes me ideal for driving a Spit, particularly on a daily basis. The risks
involved - will I get there? Will my car crumble underneath me? If I'm in
a side impact with a pedal cyclist I'm toast! How come other Spit drivers
are so much more cautious than me?

2. I'm not just frugal - I'm cheap. Well, fair enough. But a Spit is a
cheap car (at least in terms of initial purchase, possibly not running
costs...).

3. I'm concerned about status - apparently. Well, sort of - I like people
to think that I'm the sort of care-free individualist who would choose an
extrovert car like a Spitfire over the dull Ford or Nissan they are driving.
Or they think I'm a bit nuts. Either will do. Other Spitfire owners are
less of a snob than me.

4. I'm a left-brained, logical, objective person. Entirely true. Spitfire
owners should be right-brained, arty, touchy-feely types (apparently). This
point is probably fair enough.

What is scary is the cars they suggest I swap Daffy for (as if I ever
would!)

1. Nissan King Cab - you what? I detest huge pointless pick-up/4WDs -
thirsty, ugly, and entirely un-necessary unless you live on a farm or an
estate or Iceland (apologies if I have offended any pick-up drivers on the
list who are not Icelandic farmers)

2. Dodge Colt Vista - what is this? I'm British, I've never heard of it

3. Toyota Tacoma - same comments as the King Cab

4. AMC Jeep - same comments as the King Cab, although an old one would be a
fun toy

5. BMW 528 - that's more like it. I wouldn't say no, but didn't they say I
was cheap? And don't they know that this costs around 15x the price of a
Spitfire? It's more than I can afford!

If anyone else wants to be told they shouldn't be driving a Spitfire, go

If anyone tries this and actually is told they should be driving a Spit, let
us know!!

Richard & Daffy (perfectly matched, whatever anyone says)
