When seat belts first came out...early sixties...my cousin, who had Miss
America type beauty, was in a head-on collision. She was wearing the seat
belt, but incorrectly. She had left it way too loose in her lap. As a
result, she not only suffered internal injuries by being thrown against the
belt, but also disfiguration by striking the windshield.
Bottom line is...Wear the belts and wear them correctly. Especially, in
conjunction with air bags. I think I will reinstall the belts (maybe I
should check out getting some new ones) in my Spit now that I will be
driving it on the road.
