I know this is a bit after the discussion seems to have blown intself
out, but I've only just read it, not having computer access over the
weekend!
Ever since flashing indicators replaced the little pop-out 'trafficator'
flags ('pre 1950-ish), ALL UK cars have always had clear sidelights, and
amber indicators. I've even seen some personally imported US cars that
have had to convert to this layout to be road-legal in the UK.
I've always been astounded by the Mustang. Three rear lights on each
side, 3 functions (tail-lights, brake lights, indicators). I would have
expected one light for each function, and was most confused when I first
saw one (in the UK, presumably personally imported as they were never
sold here) that used all 3 lights to perform all 3 functions!
