Avi, as I said earlier in this thread I have done several conversions and
have never had to cut any metal. Now my conversions have all been on '76
and later Spits, so I don't know about early ones (but yours is a late
1500). The factory placed a black metal collar over the area and that added
extra cover took care of everything perfectly, note however that cover is
used on both o/d and non 0/d cars. the tunnel covers are the same, no need
to cut or modify any of this. You should be fine. Other than making the
plate that the mount sits on this is almost as easy as jsut changing
trannys, just a couple more small steps. Also while the driveshafts are
different lengths, (I don't remember the actual measurement but will find
out if you like) both are collapsable on the ends with about two inches of
play in them, but there is only one inch difference in the lengths of the
shaft as a whole. Point being they will both work, given I would use the
right one if you have it, but not loose sleep if you don't. You can easily
push the engine forward an inch by itself, that combined with the
overlapping collapsable measurements makes it a mute point.

Hey Barry,
I am not too clear about the modification to the car for the O.D.. Let me
know if I got it right. The metal part of my transmission tunnel needs to be

cut further back then where it currently ends, so that it can accommodate
the
O.D.. Did the O.D. cars have a different cardboard trans cover? If not was
there some sort of intermediate cover?
Thanx a lot for all your help.
Avi
