Remove the bottom nut first. Access to this nut is enhanced by
opening the throttle completely. This gets the fast idle lever
out of the way. You can wedge a screwdriver (or similar) in the
throttle cable bracket to hold the throttle open and still have
both hands free.
The top nut is a little more troublesome. Removing the plastic
"top hat" on the carb PCV port gives more clearance. Be careful
doing this. 20 year old plastic is easily broken. This part
is best replaced with new anyway. A wrench (ooops...spanner)
with small (& narrow) jaws will help immensely here also.
The real fun starts when you try to replace this top nut.
Park you car over a clear, well lit area so you can find the
nut when you drop it (repeatedly) :-)
