The Service places a 99% accuracy rating on their projection.

UK weather forecasters have started using these percentage predictions
recently, I think borrowed from the US. The one that particulary irritates me
is when they cheerfully say "...and tomorrow there will be a 50% chance of
 rain"

Surely another way of saying this is "It may rain, then again it may not"

Why do people try to hide the fact that they don't know by using unnecessary
 statistics?

 Just a thought
