Joe,

My top started ripping at the zipper seams first, about two years after
I got it. I started repairing it as it went, first from the zipper to the
main part of the hood, then as the zipper tore loose from the window
section. I used an industrial grade needle and marine grade thread.
Didn't look all that good, hand stitched and back stitched for good
measure...but it was functional.

Then, when the welt seam of the plastic window to the vinyl started
giving out, I ordered a new Mohair style from Prestige in England. It is
beautiful, much nicer than what is available here in the states. Extra
material around the windows, seals much nicer. All snaps installed to
factory specs, lined up perfectly. Zip out window with MUCH stronger
seams....I love it. AND...it was a good $150 cheaper than any source here
in the states....including shipping.

Here is the price list as of April 1, 1998:

Make Heavy Duty Original Duck Mohair

MK 1 - 3 75.95 94.95 134.95 219.95

MK 3 -1500 79.95 104.95 149.95 229.95
(w/ zipper)

Heavy Duty is Heavy Duty Quality PVC. Original is Original Quality
Material. Duck is a black canvas hooding material. Mohair is the finest
quality canvas hooding available. (these are the descriptions used in the
ad)

All prices listed in pounds sterling, convert at 1.6 times for dollars
Their phone number is: 011-44-151-608-8683 Dial exactly those numbers from
the states.
