Al weld wire is very fragile, and tends to bind up in a normal MIG 
cable.  Either doesn't want to feed at all, jams up, or comes out at 
an uneven rate.  The spool gun puts the wire & feeder on the torch, 
where it doesn't have to be shoved through several feet of cabling, 
alleviating most problems.
