leaf blower blues - part duex

I checked the gas cap... it has a simple rubber slit type vent with a tiny
piece of foam to catch the dirt... it was clear...

ran the mower with the cap loose ??  off ???   same results... two minute run
time... then dies...

so I'm on to other items...  is there a definitive way to check ignition
components   other then the heat up/freeze type check ... what to look for
???
