So I'm only 33, not that old, but yet I remember when 2x4's were cheap.

What's the scoop on rough carpentry materials these days? I'm thinking
about what I'll need to do to build a 15x35x16 two floor box in a
steel building... Bottom will be an office and (small) machine shop, top
will be a small apartment. Insulated walls and flat ceiling. Are metal
studs and such now the way to go or is lumber still cheaper?
Along those lines... The steel building will be insulated and heated,
though only heated to 50 or 60 deg... What's a good way to heat the the
apartment/office? None of this is built yet, so I could have either two
systems or one system with two zones or whatever. I'd prefer floor
heating in the steel building, but not if it costs a billion dollars. A/C
for the apartment / office is currently planned to be just window air
conditioners poked out through the wall.
