My dishwasher is routed into an upside down Y. The hose from the dishwasher
goes into 1 leg of the Y, then the other leg of the Y hooks into the garbage
disposal. The stem of the Y goes up into a vent cap sticking out of the
sink beside the faucet.
Why is it routed this way. Why not straight into the disposal without the
vent since the disposal is open on top?
