Wow.  Sounds really scary.  I would strongly advise putting these outside.
Exhaust is not a good indoor activity.
Can you fabricate a secure box that you'd mount to the outside of the shop?
Barring that how about building something similar to an old pie safe: an
indoor/outdoor cabinet that is not open to the inside, just the outside?
And in any case invest in a couple of the best CO monitors you can find.
