I also built my first computer from a kit about 20 years ago - a
Sinclair from England, sold here through Timex. It had a whopping 8k of
RAM! Can you believe that - 8k. You could plug in an extra 8k at the
back but it was always falling off and introducing you to the
frustration of computers. But, boy, did 8k teach you how to write
programs that were RAM stingy. There were some programs you could buy
but useful ones you had to write yourself.
