I was going to stay out of this discussion BUT maybe others can learn
from my sorry experience. I had painted my previous garage floor with
2-part epoxy and it looked great for 10 years!

We just built a new house with what I hope to be my 'dream' garage which
will see me through my remaining car freak years.

Brand new concrete. I did everything 'right' but it came out 'wrong'. I
let the new concrete set for 90 days, then acid etched and rinsed, let
dry for 24 hours and then applied the 2-part epoxy paint recommended by
local paint store experts. I did not use it for 30 days thereafter.

Bad news. They recommended a water based paint. And, based on the info
available in the store, it looked "right". After it started lifting
under each street car tire print, lifting under floor jack pressure,
scratching severely under floor jacks, and chalking off when cleaned
with my usual harsh chemicals, all this within the first two weeks of
use, the factory rep who looked at it said "Of course -- wrong product!"

They refunded the $300 I spent for the paint and agreed to participate
in the removal cost up to a few hundred dollars. I have to live with it
until next summer to get the floor temp high enough for the right stuff,
and I shudder at the thought of emptying the garage and starting over,
leaving all my stuff in the driveway for several days.

Moral of the story: Use only a paint that has been used successfully by
some one you personally who has real world results under your
conditions. I trusted the wrong folks for advice.
