I beg to differ on the DC210  I own one and it is a full 1X to 2X zoom.
Zoom in/out till you get the picture you want (1X, 1.5X, 1.733X, 2X, whatever).
Works as I would want it to.  The thing I want is a much greater zoom range.
8X would be great!
While I'm on the subject, I always use full resolution and at that the 4MB
flashcard only holds about 13 pictures. Plan on buying a 16MB card or so.
It also eats batteries. I guess those mini LCD's draw some serious power.
