On the 56 235 in my truck there is a line inside the side cover. Plumbed at
the rear and goes up to about the center to a port that goes to the rockers
shaft. I had my covers of because the old engine I think spun a bearing or one
just got too loose. Oil pressure was great, then the engine got noisy as the
oil pressure dropped. I have maybe 10 psi all the time, But it takes its time
to get there. It's very noisy (knocking) and oil dribbles out of this tube
that comes up out of the head that seams to be fitted to the shaft then bends
back down with an open end. No oil is distributed across the shaft. I used a
long screwdriver shank and drill to turn the oil pump. I was hoping that line
was cracked (behind side cover), but figures it wasn't, that would have been
too easy. Any ideas?
