bigger clutch = more square inches of contact between plate and flywheel
= longer life of clutch

Subject: [oletrucks] clutch on a '59 chevy apache
Today I was rebuilding the clutch on my 1959 3/4 ton Chevy Apache with
235 . I was surprised to find that the disc and pressure plate were 11
inch. The service manual for '59 shows all 1/2, 3/4, and 1 ton trucks
take a 10 inch. Could you custom order an 11 inch clutch back then and
if so what would be the reason for doing so?
