The doors are solid (so he says), the hood is straight and undamaged,
the tailgate condition is unknown yet as the truck is out west and I am
in New england. one fender has a very shallow indent about the size
of a softball. Other than the cab corners it would be basically taking
a DA to the whole thing to remove the surface rust here and there.
Then shoot it with single stage enamel to make it look presentable.
I do have a good cash of spare GMC parts that will fit so this is
mostly what is motivating me. I was also going to have them
deliver it also that would be like $800 off the top if it was local.

Jeff, I would be very leery of the rust above the windshield....if it is
rusted on the outside than it is must likely the same on the inside. Even
if it isn't rusted through you can bet it is thin. Any time you have a rust
hole you need to remove almost 3 to 4 times it's size from around it to get
to good metal. This truck sounds more like a parts truck to me and is way
over priced. Unless however the doors, hood, fenders, grille and tail gate
are all perfect and require NO body work (which I doubt is the case). You
should be able to find a nice Driver for less money than that!
