Bulbs burning out

My instrument bulbs are burning out fairly quickly.  2 weeks at a time.  Is 
this a voltage stabilizer problem.  FYI, I put in those radio shack bulbs 
that had been recommended years back, to increase the lumination.  I don't 
think I have an original one now.  What is the proper voltage bulb?
