| Since the body work is nearly finished on my B, and the interior is in less
than beautiful shape, I think it's time for an inside re-do.
I was at Sports & Classics in Darien this morning and met with Jon, the
owner, & his upholstery man. They will be able to work with the multi-year
configuration of my B, as everything is individually made. `
However, as we discussed seat upholstery, I was reminded of how fat my
headrests are. When wearing a helmet while racing, my head is pushed
forward by the headrest. I don't like that.
I'm wondering if anyone on the list knows if some year headrests are
thinner.
The seats in my B came out of a 1969 B that I parted out. However, I
believe they are seats from an early '70's GT as they have cloth seating
surfaces. The headrests have a single insert bar and are 5 inches thick in
the center, 6 inches at the sides. The photos I have of my 1980 B would
indicate that those headrests are much thinner.
Would one of you folks please measure the thickness of your late model
headrests & let me know. AND, if the late ones are thinner, is there anyone
out there who would like to swap thin headrests for thick? The ones in my B
are black un-textured vinyl. They appear to be original and are in like-new
shape. They are the only part of the entire interior that is like that.
Your help will be appreciated.
