Hi Ben,
having had the benefit of seeing what youre talking about, a few words of
warning,
Those wires are waaaaay past being restorable - theres just too much
corrosion under the woolworths paint and if you have them dipped primed
and painted - then repaired it will cost you a great deal more than a
set of new wheels - which is infinitely preferable.
You could certainly swap over the front and rear ends including the
suspension and it would lower the car - however - it is more than likely
you will need to rebuild both - not the end of the world but expensive -
an easier way would be to salvage the hubs, refurbish them and swap them
to the 78 - not all the parts are interchangable including the half
shafts but it can be done - and since replacement hubs for ww are several
hundred dollars they are usually worth saving. - another caveat is that
both ends are bloody heavy!! i have a crooked toe courtesy of a front
end!
