Hello groups.

        Thanks to everyone (especially Damien, Peter, Ron, Jim, Greg, Paul)
for the 265 Chrysler rod information.  Nice to see this kind of solid info.

sorry I have been slow to get out this response.

        Besides the 3 rods summarized by Peter, there are others which
might well be added to the list to bring it all together at one time  Are
there even more possibilities not mentioned here???????????:

        Peter's list.  My additions in parentheses.  1 possible correction
as shown--Paul Rakich shows the 265 Chrysler c-to-c as 5.750, not 5.775.

        Here are my additions.  Much of this is common knowledge for many
of you.  My confidence factor for accuracy of this info is about 95%, some
100%:

Additional comments:

        My collection of old parts books is rather scanty but I have spent
a lot of time studying them.  These comments may be helpful:

        1) Buick/Olds F-85 (61-63) rods are generally the same as the Rover
ones listed here.  There may be some minor dimensional differences, and the
Rover may be of better material and stronger, but it is my understanding
they are directly interchangable.  Any additional input on that question
would be welcome.

        2) Another rod which uses the same big end bearing as the Buick
215/Rover 3.5 may be of interest.  It is the Buick 265/301 V8 and 151
In-line 4 of about 1977 to 1981, and maybe later.  My books give no
additional information specific to these.  Anybody know about them?

        3) The same rod as the 300 V8 Buick was used in the 64-67 225 V6
Buick.  This engine shared the same 3.750 X 3.400 bore & stroke as the 300.
This may be useful for anybody hunting for these rods.

        4) The 198 Buick V6 (62-63) mentioned above is probably a very rare
engine and production was probably very low.  It was Buick's (and the U.S.
Auto industry's) first V6 engine.  In these years it was listed as the
"standard" engine in the Buick Special--the 215 V8 was the high power
option.

        5) 1966-1975 (and maybe later?) Buick 340/350 V8 rods also use the
same bearing shells as all the other Buick/Rover rods listed herein.  They
are, however, very long--6.387" center to center, probably because of the
engine's very long 3.85" stroke.  Other specs--2.000" bearing diameter;
.107" offset; .939" pin diameter; .835" big end width; and 2.125" big end
bore diameter --almost identical to Buick 300, except much longer.  My
guess is that they are cast. Has anybody ever heard of using these?  Maybe
in a Leyland P 76 block?  I haven't.  Crankshafts from these have gone into
P 76 blocks though.

        6) Chevy rods with the 2" bearing are becoming difficult to get
because they were replaced by rods with larger bearings and are no longer
produced, nor are they favored by Chevy engine builders.

        Last, but not least, can anybody give me a name and contact
information of any Australian source which would be willing to sell and
ship me 1 Chrysler 265 rod to examine myself?  I am in California, U.S.A.
