Mick... I've pulled the pan and the head. Last night I sprayed some
penatrating oil into all 4 cylinders. Today the oil was still standing in the
3rd
cylinder. Funny thing.. No maring of the cylinder wall. I had rebuilt the
engine when I restored the car a few years ago. I'm concerned about the head
as I do not think that it was magna-fluxed by the company that did the
head..The reason I say that is because it would get so damn hot. I also need
to
find what we bore the cylinders out to. The guy who did the work for me is an
excellent engine re-build who left NAPA to open his own shop. He did my other
two engines also ( B&A). Maybe I should try another shop. Where are you
located?

Roy - I an truely sorry to hear this. I an building (3) TC's & (4) TD's
spares right now, but you might be a little pre-mature. I would think you
might want to pull the pan & head and see what is really going on first. I
have
plenty of original spares so not to worry. My first guess would be the crank
let go (bloody broke). I am building one for a fellow now the last shop
that rebuilt the motor forgot to tighten # 3 connecting rod bolts, yes thru
the
side of the block and oil sump. Please let me know what you find and I will
help in any way you need if possible. Mick
