Thanks to all who offered suggestions on this. Gerhard had the key. Install
the car over the engine. With help from our esteemed North American MMM
Register leader, Bill Tantau, we got it together yesterday.

I had assembled the entire engine on the bench, carbs, dizzy, manifolds etc.
That was a mistake as the engine is a tight fit in the chassis......also the
body is on the chassis including the bonnet side valances....so I took off the
carbs, dizzy, the starter switch, and placed the engine on one of those car
dollys which has castors. That way we could roll the engine around on the
garage floor positioning it as the engine hoist lowed the front axle down upon
the
engine.

Getting it as far down as possible we place jack stands under the chassis and
move the engine hoist to again lift the front of the engine while meanwhile
jacking up the gearbox. With it almost home, we installed the radiator/engine
mount bracket and the rubber seal, firewall to gearbox. This seal rubber
which Dee Davis had extruded is really too hard and would have been better in
sponge rubber but we did get it into position and jack/lifted the engine into
its
final resting place.

This morning I'm re-installing all the components I had to take off to make
this happen..........Hoping to fire it soon........!!
Cheers
Terry
