NASCAR started making rules to make everybody even way back in 1956. After the
Chrysler hemi dominated the field in 55 and 56, they "legislated" it right off
the track to give the other cars an even chance. In fact, fans threw fruit at
the Chryslers in 56 because they didn't want to see their other prima donnas
getting beat up by a big bully. NASCAR ought to just contract with some shop
somewhere and have them build "spec" cars for all the teams, and then run
videos of cars speeding around the track, and let the pit crews compete to win
or lose. More car lengths are gained and lost in the pits than on the track
anyway! NASCAR has become nothing more than bracket racing in a circle.
Instead of handicaps, they just make all the cars run the same!
and that's my two cents!
