Keith, I have a friend that is a top crew chief on an alcohol funny car. 
I asked him about their chutes. He said their readouts show some where 
in the 3.5 to 4 g's. It's a hard enough hit that some guys are having 
trouble with the retinas in their eyes. They have a much shorter 
shutdown area than we do, but they have a much larger tire on the ground 
so they can use a lot more brake. Remember Nolan Whites problem with the 
chute was not the hardware but the sewing on the straps broke. Im going 
to try a Stroud chute on the Sprite this year. I never have liked the 
way the other chute opened.  Doug Odom in big ditch
