May 1948 Hot Rod Magazine printed the Russetta Timing Association safety rules
- There were 17 published rules including , entries must have "good" brakes ,
radiators must have caps , radiators hoses must have clamps and floor boards ,
fire walls and crash helmets required - The same issue had a feature titled
"hot rod history" with pictures of the Sept. 1933 Muroc meet - Frank Lyons had
top speed at 117 MPH .
