Bob, Bob, Dick, & list:
Berkeley is one of many cars I lusted after as a teenager, but I never saw
anything but pictures until "Bonner's Bad Berkeley" (Bonneville
record-holder in Modified Sports-- "B" engine, I think. Blown, I think).
Year 2001.

Anyway, Bonner's doesn't look much like a Berkeley any more. A Berkeley was
a true British "sports car". They were all FWD roadsters, I think, and had
a reputation for transitioning from typical FWD understeer to WICKED
oversteer if you jumped out of the throttle in a turn.

Dick, I think you may be confusing Berkeley with Morgan, with resp. to
3-wheeled version. There was a three-wheeled Mog (I have the 4-wheeled
version), but my "Guiness World Car Record" book doesn't list a Berkeley
3-wheeler.

To me, the Berkeley looks more like the mid-'60s MG Midget (similar to
Keith's Sprite-- but w/o the bug-eyes). The originals were all 2-cyl
2-strokes (MC-engine) powered, and the last one was a 4-stroke 2-cyl
(Villiers engine, I think). R.J., I hadn't heard about loading them up
with a Coventry Climax engine-- WOW! That must have been great competition
for the Sunbeam Tigers of the same era.

For the 4 years listed (1957-1960), Guiness lists "Track" around 42 inches,
"Wheelbase" varying from 60 to 70 inches, and weight varying from 700 to 915
lbs. It was a LITTLE car!!

Sorry, Bob, I got no pix.

O.K. Turk Fans, Keith's well on his way to California to pick up his dream
car and now we can talk amongst ourselves. Firstly,as I'm not a BRN
subscriber,
I do not know what a "Berkley" looks like. Could someone post a picture and
info on it ? This way when he returns,we will be prepared to insult him with
fresh material. I spoke with him briefly late last night before he left (
he
does not sleep, ever) about a similiar project I've been researching, also in
tiny
door slammers, and he is really psyched up on his toy car ( match box?
)......Bob,awaiting pix,Wanner
