All batteries have some internal resistance. Bigger ones usually have less than 
little ones. When you connect two batterys in parellel that resistance is cut 
in half. That resistance is part of the circuit just like external resistance 
and when you connect to a big load which requires lots of amps the voltage drop 
across the internal resistance becomes significant and it is subtracted from 
the voltage that the battery puts out. Remember V=IR
