        John; Not all 283 blocks will go out to 4". I have bored two of them
that were too thin. The early ones were the thickest casting but over
the years some of them rust inside the water jackets to make them thin.
I have the customer take it and have it sonic tested first. Most are OK,
but it's best to find out first. When I bore a block I can hear a thin
block. They have a tinny or kind of ringing sound when they get
