Yes that=E2=80=99s correct. You could not have walked into your local BMC d=
ealer/distributor and ordered a BJ8 with a hardtop. However my understandin=
g was that convertible hardtops were available from the DHMC and some 200 w=
ere made in period.
If you wanted one on your car, than the soft top and mechanism had to be re=
moved, as both the soft and hard tops could not be fitted at the same time.=
Of course many more have subsequently been made and attached is a photo of =
a BJ8 with one.

Recall everyone, that Jensen produced the "factory" hardtops for all the bi=
g Healeys. They also did the Sprite Hardtops despite losing the contract f=
or the Sprite bodies. Then too, there were a number of aftermarket manufac=
turers such as Parrish and Universal that made hardtops for the 100, 100-6 =
and 3000, Hank (AHC Historian)
