 Alternators=0A=0A Listers :=0A=0A I installed an alternator a few years=
 ago. I=E2=80=99ve had very few if any=0Aproblems until I needed to upgr=
ade the unit.=0A=0A In the past year I have gone through two internal re=
gulators. I have=0Ahad it rebuilt by a knowledgeable mechanic. With the=
 last rebuild the=0Ainternal regulator installed did not need the wire t=
hat has gone to=0Athe old voltage regulator mounted on the fire wall. I=
=E2=80=99ve been told=0Athe purpose of that wire is now internal within=
 the new regulator.=0A=0A The old voltage regulator has been striped of=
 parts and is now just=0A=E2=80=9Cdecoration.=E2=80=9D It seems logical=
 that if the internal bits can do=0Athe job, the old wire is 1 not an as=
set to the system and 2 could=0Acause some unexpected issues. Removing i=
t should be a good move.=0A=0A As you can tell, my knowledge of alternat=
ors is very limited. I hope=0Athat someone out there can reassure me tha=
t it=E2=80=99s okay to remove the=0Awire or guidance on what to do next.=
 I am waiting to start the car=0Auntil I=E2=80=99m comfortable with the=
 way the alternator is wired.=0A=0A Thank you for any thoughts you have.=
