The retained heat will cause the iron to start to flake off. Not a good
idea for a long life street application. Been there, done that.

I just talked to a friend with a supercharged MGB, has a header with
header tape and says it really decreases cockpit and engine compartment
heat.

My question, can you use the tape on a regular cast Iron manifold.
