Hi Joe, The wing nuts that thread on to the "J-Bolts" that secure the battery bracket on my 2+2 (BJ8) appear to be cast iron that has been tapped. They are definitely not brass; they have a textured (sort of) rough finish. The base of each wing nut, has four raised segments, which resemble the crenellations of an upside-down castle tower, if you know what I mean. Sorry I can't phrase it any better than that.
