I do similar as Glen notes below, but I have also used non hardening blue =
Hylomar on the gasket surface that sits against the head. =C2=A0I think tha=
t =C2=A0I have had the same gasket on the valve cover for over 20 years. =
=C2=A0The oil keeps the cork gasket in good shape just like wine keeps the =

e a little, smooth it out & leave a light coating.Let it sit for around 15 =

t doesn't adhere to the head surface, fit cover, done.The gasket is now par=
t of the cover, it won't squish out, nor will it leak because it has a perf=
