John, typically folks use #1 and #4. In that way they get an accurate =
read on each carb with minimal mixing. The thermisters are installed =
equal distances from the head, usually 5-6=E2=80=9D down the manifold. =
Angle the thermisters in such a manner that the connecting wires are not =
likely to create an obstruction.

A dual channel EGT gauge is a great tool for diagnostics and also =
tuning.=20

The most accurate temperatures are at the end of a long straight with =
wide open throttle. Ignore any readings while stationary or at part =
throttle.

As far as the gauge placement there=E2=80=99s options but all the cars I =
have built have them mounted on the top of the dash, just outside the =
field of vision. That way all it takes is a quick glance at the end of a =
straight.=20

I need some tips on installation of a dual probe EGT gauge on the TR4 =
race engine with twin Strombergs-

What two cylinder to use for probes.

Optimum EG temperature for tuning purposes.
