My apology if I'm responding incorrectly to the rear break adjustment problem.
I'm an old man who is not as tecky as some of you younger guys.

Rear Brakes on 1600's and 2000's: One of the most common problems I have seen
over the years is that some installed both front pads on one side of the car
and both rear pads on the other side of the car. If this has been done the
brakes "sorta" work but you can never get them to adjust. Hopefully you have
access to someone with a roadster whose brakes work correctly. Carefully
compare the position of the pad location on the front shoe and the pad location
on the back shoe on each side of the vehicle. Make sure your car matches the
"good" car. There are two ways to do it wrong and one way to do it right.
This is about the ratio of bad break jobs I've seen on roadsters.
