Hello Everyone, I have a '68 2000 with the early version (jet access cover
w/ 2 screws) of the Mikuni Solex carbs. The roadster has not run for six
years but struggled home under its own steam then. Turns out the valve
seats in the engine head were totally gone. Is it possible that the PO had
to adjust the carbs way off the "norm" just to keep it running? Engine now
rebuilt. New mechanical fuel pump. Lots of gas now getting in the carbs
and may be flooding. I have a rebuild kit for it but would like to hear the
roadster start w/ the carbs "as is" for a start. I live in Calgary which is
at approximately 3750 feet above sea level. I took the following jet info
from my carbs and included the owner manual numbers in brackets ( ). What
sizes should I run given the elevation? Main air jet: 0.2 (?), main fuel
jet: 160 (#180), pilot fuel jet: 52.5 (#60). I just found the starter jet
under the float. Could not read its size. I did not attempt to take either
one out yet. It looks like they could get dirty quicker than the others
just because they are on the bottom of the fuel bowl. Overall, the carbs
look clean. No carmalized gas that I would have expected from sitting for
years. Any and all help would be appreciated. Thanks! Larry.
