If the hole is too big for a piece of baling wire, use gum or duct tape.

Daryl,
The only thing I can see that would be affected by the lift in being missing
is that the hole that it normally is in will cause a slight leak past the
air cleaner. That will allow some dirt to bypass the filter.
If it were mine, I'd plug the hole and forget about it.
