I'm in my sixth week of harness stuff and third week of actual rewiring the
66.

First thing I did was combine all new wiring harness', relays, lights,
switches, etc with original equipment and made a new schematic. Just my luck,
I was changing the new schematic as I went along with the wire runs.

Painless Wiring harness 10130 (14-Circuit Remote Mount) is what I bought.

I have to say the fuse block in that harness setup is a major pain if you want
to do anything with it other than what they designed it for. They have other
harnesses with this style fuse block and I would avoid them as well. You would
be better off using one of their harnesses that has a GM style block and all
the circuits you will need in it.

The major bite about that block was the correct identification of the
terminals it uses and then the design of the mounting base. Tech support does
not have that information. After five weeks of phone calls and internet
searching I finally got close to the style terminal (GM mini) and today I got
a Painless rep that knew where to find the information I wanted. He was very
helpful but also told me this type of help is not something they can do on the
tech line and nor do they sell the raw parts used to make the harness (ie, the
terminals). After identifying the terminal you get to find out that they are
sold in quantities of 200 and up. Also do not expect them to give you the
schematic to any of their harnesses as I spent a morning ohming out the fuse
block to create the harness schematic they refused to email me.

Needless to say, I may have to reuse already crimped terminals; not a problem,
just a pain. The reason I needed to change the wiring was to eliminate wiring
that was not needed in the roadster and to redesign an unsed circuit to power
the accessory relay along with adding length to a couple wires at the source.
I also did not want to stuff unsed wiring and crimping directly on the
terminal is much cleaner than a splice of two different colored wires. I also
added two new circuits rather than piggy backing them on an existing fuse.
These two extra fuses I added are the only out of place looking items in
relationship with this harness. So, I am currently at 16 circuits but I think
an 18 circuit fuse block would be the way to go.

Tomorrow my nightmare continues!
