I agree 100% on Miatas. Way more fun than the usual Focus/Neon/Civic eco
box. I bought
a 1996 M edition for 4.5K a few months ago. My route to work is 21 miles
and is mixed traffic jam/city traffic/and highway. I have been getting 28
MPG.

I went grocery shopping and was able to fit 14 paper grocery bags in it.

On the freeway, it is sort of high strung, with 70 MPH needing about 4K RPM.
If you keep it down to 60 or so you can get 33 MPG, but milage quickly
starts falling at higher speed, and at 70 your back to 28 or so.

My big cam, stroked, big valve, big carb pushrod 2L 5 speed roadster is a
lot faster than the Miata especially with torque at low speeds, but only
gets maybe 20 MPG.

Next step at our work here is talking to each other about where we live and
figuring out a car pool scheme.

Best Regards,
Jim
