Eric,
Your temp fix is the way all cars were done prior to the 1968 PCV
requirement. It was usually a steel tube from the tappet area on pushrod
engines, or higher up on OHC engines. It was generally called a road tube.
To keep oil from exiting, the tube would go up and then make a 180 turn to
go down, like an upside down sink trap. You always knew when you were
following a worn engine, from the oil smoke exiting under the front of the
car. BTW, the hose into the air filter on the 67.5s was not required, Datsun
was just a bit ahead, like the locking steering wheel, headrests, and
shoulder harness.
