A Roadster in Z Land

We broke down and decided to go to a local Nissan dealer and take a peek at
the 350Z. It was turning out to be a lovely day, so we took the '64 1600
project Roadster for the ride.

The dealership was crowded. When we rolled in, two sales guys motioned for us
to park in a vacant space that was, coincidentally, across from the showroom
and the 3 Zs they had parked out front.

While we were looking over the Zs and chatting with the sales guy, we suddenly
noticed quite a little crowd gathered around our very rough project.
Dealership employees were drifting out of the showroom and over to our
Roadster. Someone pulled a copper colored 350Z right next to it; I wish we had
a camera!

We went back to our car and the little crowd. Everyone wanted to know what it
was. One guy didn't believe it was a Datsun "Look at the P on the horn
button" he pointed out. I had to pop the hood to prove it was indeed a
Datsun. As soon as the hood went up I swear everyone from the service
department came running out. It was a blast educating the Nissan dealership
staff that Datsuns indeed existed before the Z.

The biggest compliment we received (keeping in mind that this is our first
engine swap project) was when we left, we got an admiring "wow, it started
right up!" from one of the service guys.
