Yes Gentlemen, "steaming" and "pegged" were used literally. The thrown
fanbelt incident caused a 240 degree incident, which probably led to the
later seal failure, which was a 280+ incident. But that just means no water
passing the temp. sensor and the sensor soaking up ambient block temps. The
cooling system is pressurized but no coolent is allowed at the track. The oil
pressure never dropped below 50 psi and the oil temp never went above 200
degrees due the overkill nature of my oiling system, designed to keep my
three main bearing 1500 crank alive at 7000 RPM and extended high cornering
loads. I let the engine cool, added water with the motor running (it was
pouring out around the seal) to continue the cooling process, and the motor
still starts easily as I have to drive it off the trailer, up my driveway,
and into the garage, without a hiccup. I haven't done a compression/leakdown
test yet, but with the way she ran, I'll be suprised to see any problems (at
least that's what I'm hoping)
