Lo List,

I am still having a "few" problems getting my 2000 with Solex's to start.
With the help of ever able Lister, Greg Burrows, over the phone, I believe we
have it down to an ignition problem. I'm getting fuel into the carbs after he
informed me that my throttle assembly on my carbs was assembled improperly (my
fault). The car never "turns over" but rather stumbles like it wants to fire,
but can't. It actually never starts, but acts like it wants to. I've got
spark. On Lister suggested that when I was assembling the engine, to get the
static timing to 15 btdc so that it would be easier to adjust to 20 btdc.
I've done so, FYI. I've then adjusted distrib both one way than the other,
with not a huge difference. I also rotated the plug wires 180 degrees (put
number 1 where 4 was, etc.: it is 1-3-4-2, correct?) didn't even get it to
hit that way, so I think I've got the timing close.

What should I do? Would a bad points gap or dwell prevent the car form
starting even though I'm getting spark? How far off can the timing be and
still turn the car over? There doesn't seem much left to check. Any other
issues I should be aware of?
