Craig,
Before you change the coil, as Ron suggested. Try cleaning and tightening
the spade connector on the distributor. I had a loose one that would fall
off at un-opportune moments, killing the engine. Yours might just be a
little loose, causing the problem you described.

I'm trying to get the old "honeymoon" roadster on the road and have come up
against a strange problem. car sits there idling fine, then all of a sudden
it dies just like no spark at all. just before reaching terminal
non-velocity, sputters and catches and runs fine again until the next time
it happens. seems to happen more often under load. what's the consensus-
condenser maybe? have checked to see if any vacuum buildup in gas tank,
that's not the problem. fuel bowl shows fuel at all times, so not passing
clots thru the fuel system. electrical stuff tends to leave me guessing.
high beams aren't working either. maybe that's in the switch on the column.
any input appreciated.
