I get a bunch of virus attachments. Since 99.9% of my e-mail on this
account is from the list I believe it is infected list members, although
new viruses can mask the "from" address so I can't easily tell who is
actually infected.

Unfortunately the AAAA or !0000 or whatever trick doesn't work for many
viruses. See http://www.snopes.com/computer/virus/quickfix.htm

Here are the real tricks:

1. If using Windows, run virus protection. Pay for it. It's worth it.
2. If using Linux or Macintosh, don't worry, you can't really get infected
with most of the viruses anyway. It's just an annoyance.
3. Do NOT use Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express!!! Ever!!! They are
horribly insecure and are the target of almost all e-mail viruses.
