Does the oil pressure gauge work off of the "pulsating voltage regulator"
as do the other guages in that cluster?

About 2/3 of the way through this little trip I noticed the
oil pressure was pegged at zero! Well, I thought, if
it was really zero the engine would have already blown up,
so I kept on, and subsequently noticed I had no gas,
and an ice cold engine, then all gauges started working
again......so I am thinking I need one of these instrument
volatage regulators also.

I thought the oil pressure gauge worked directly off of the oil pressure in
the line going to the guage. I didn't think the PVR was involved with the
oil pressure, but rather the gas, temp and voltage gauges? If so, that
would explain why my oil pressure guage isn't working along with my
non-working temp, gas and volt gauges.

What's the story?
